The Honeywell SiXPIR uses a dual element which refers to the 2 fields, positive and negative, that are in each zone coming into the pyro. When the SiXPIR sees a change in infrared energy passing into these fields within the zones, it produces a fault. The Lyric Controller should produce the fault letting you know that the sensor has tripped and an alarm will go off.
This unit detects motion by detecting a change in infrared energy, known as Passive InfraRed. The PIR senses changes in infrared energy (hot to cold or cold to hot).
