This video will show you how to program a Honeywell 5898 wireless K-Band Dual TEC Motion Sensor into the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5200 wireless security system. To program the Honeywell 5898 motion sensor into the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5200 system first make sure the Honeywell 5898 motion detector has power by adding all four 1.5V AA, Energizer batteries.
The Honeywell 5898 motion will go through a 45 second power up followed by a 10 minute walk through test. During this walk through test attempt to find the best location to mount the Honeywell 5898 motion sensor. Now you are going to need to select how you want your Honeywell 5898 wireless motion detector to be programmed. In this video we are showing you how to program the Honeywell 5898 motion with a medium sensitivity which will allow for pets up to 50 lbs. Which means when looking at the dip switch labeled number 1 on the Honeywell 5898 motion it should be in the off position. The rest of the dip switches leave as is because we won’t be using the loop number for those settings today. If pet immunity is of high importance than make sure to add the pet immunity lens which will come with your Honeywell 5898 motion sensor. The directions are very simple and are located on figure A.
Now that your Honeywell 5898 motion sensor is prepared you can seal it up. Go to the Honeywell L5200 wireless security system and enter programming by selecting the security tab, more, tools, installer code "default is 4112", program, zones, select an available zone, select serial number, enter the 7 digit serial number you wrote down earlier, make sure the loop number is 1 which is to activate the Honeywell 5898 as a motion sensor, assign a zone description for this sensor, device type will be motion sensor, response type will usually be perimeter meaning if the motion is triggered while the alarm is armed it will send the alarm directly off with no delay, report yes, chime disabled, supervision should be supervised so that the Honeywell L5200 is constantly looking for the 5898 motion, select save, back out, yes to allow yourself back into programming and now you are at the home screen.
The combination of PIR and K-Band microwave technologies enable the sensors to distinguish between real intruders and other environmental conditions which in turn can reduce false alarms from happening.
The Honeywell LYNX Touch L5200 wireless security system has been discontinued by Honeywell and will no longer produce these alarm panels. The L5200 has been replaced by the Honeywell L5210 wireless security system the link to the new system has been placed below.
