This video shows you how to program a duress code in the Honeywell L5200 wireless security system.

What is a duress code?

A duress code is a special code used in the event an intruder demands you or a family member to disarm the alarm system so that the police aren't tipped there is a disturbance. The duress code is used in these special situations where the code you enter actually silences the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5200 wireless security system and looks as if you disarmed the alarm system normally. In reality the duress code sends a special signal to GEOARM Security's central alarm monitoring station to alert us that the police are needed. Instead of the typical protocol where we reach out to you before dispatching we alert the police immediately that you are in distress. When the police arrive close to the scene they turn their lights off and have there weapons ready for a confrontation with an intruder. The code you end up making your duress code make sure you will remember this number even in a high stress situation. Some families use 1379 as it is the numbers that make a box pattern on the number pad or 2580 the numbers in the middle of the touch pad going in order downwards.

To add a duress code to your Honeywell LYNX Touch L5200 wireless security system select the security tab, more, tools, enter your master code "default is 1234", user, duress, edit, select the user code box, select your 4 digit code, don't, save, back out of programming. Call GEOARM Security to test your alarm signals to make sure that we are able to receive your duress code. The duress code is a feature that should be activated to every home and business security system. If you have any questions about adding or using a duress code give us a call.
