This video will show you how to program the Honeywell 5818MNL recessed wireless window/door contact with a delay setting and manually learning the serial number into the Honeywell LYNX Plus L3000 wireless security system. First, remove the Honeywell 5818MNL from its packaging box. Take the Honeywell 5818MNL wireless contact with a small flat-head screwdriver remove the battery cover, insert the battery accordingly, gather the 7 digit serial number, and seal up the Honeywell 5818MNL wireless contact.
Now you are ready to begin programming from the Honeywell L3000 home screen select 4112 800, *56, locate available zone, *, 01, *, c10 report code *, 3rf input type, *, e1 loop, enter 7 digit serial number, *, verify the serial number *, change zone description if needed *, 00 * 99 to exit programming. To verify that you have programmed the Honeywell 5818MNL contact correctly contact GEOARM.
The Honeywell 5818MNL wireless Door/Window contact is a magnetic contact sensor that provides concealed protection for doors or windows. With its tapered design and at nearly half the size of standard transmitters, the Honeywell 5818MNL is another example of how Honeywell's wireless technology is constantly evolving to meet customer needs.
The Honeywell 5818MNL should not be installed in metal doors or windows that are located at long distance from the actual RF receiver. Metal will drastically cut the signal down to almost to zero and not allow the panel to communicate with the Honeywell 5818MNL contact. You will notice this if your alarm system gives you an RF trouble. If you are receiving the RF signal trouble make sure you take a look at your contacts to see if they have been installed in this manner.
If you are still receiving this RF signal trouble and the contact is not mounted in metal you may also want to take a look at the overall distance from the panel to the Honeywell 5818MNL wireless contact. Typically they state that contacts can have a range of 200 feet. With the Honeywell 5818MNL wireless contact being a smaller contact we would lean along the lines of 150. Keep in mind that dry wall, wood and other materials can also hinder the signal strength of the contacts back to the panel. Every time a contact signal has to go through for example dry wall that will cut the signal down by 30 percent. If your contacts are out of range you may need to add the Honeywell 5800RP wireless signal repeater. The 5800RP can extend the signal reach by 150 feet.
