What is a duress code?

A duress code is a special code used in the event an intruder demands for you or a family member to disarm the alarm system so that the police aren't tipped there is a disturbance. The duress code is used in these special types of situations where the code you enter actually silences the alarm and looks as if you actually disarmed the system normally as the intruder has asked you to do. But, in reality this code sends a special signal to GEOARM Security's central alarm monitoring station to alert us that there is a crime in progress. Instead of the typical protocol where we reach out to you before dispatching we alert the police immediately that you are in distress. When the police arrive close to the scene they turn their lights off and have there weapons ready for a confrontation with an intruder. The code you end up making your duress code make sure it is a code you will remember in a high stress situation. Some families use 1379 as it is the numbers that make up the box on the number pad or even 2580 the numbers in the middle of the touch pad going in order downwards.

To add a duress code to your Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system select the security tab, more, tools, enter your master code "default is 1234", user, duress, edit, select the user code box, select your 4 digit code, don't, save, back out of programming.
